Stila The Perfect Face Kit & Eye Shadow Trend

by Shannon on August 19th, 2007

eyeshadow trend

When I opened my newest catalog from Sephora, I came upon many pictures of models with these “extra dark” crease shadows placed near the bridge of the nose that looked something short of an extra eyebrow growing in the middle of your lids.

This particular picture was associated with Stila’s The Perfect Face Kit. The contents of the kit are fabulous including the Kitten eye shadow, black Smudge Pot, Mini liner brush, Multi-Effect mascara, Convertible Color in Lillium and Lip Glaze in Brown Sugar.

While I might want the kit, I don’t think I will be sporting any Star Trek looking “welcome to the planet glamazon” eyes.

What do you think of this eye shadow trend?

I am SOOOO not crazy about it. And I’ve noticed that if I stare at the picture too long it starts looking crazier and crazier!

I love Stila shadows. But this look? No thanks! It looks like someone made a big mistake applying the crease color and didn’t bother to fix it!

Shannon - we are too much alike dear.

I was just flipping through the newest Sephora catalog this morning (which has too many fragrance samples in it that the mix of them stank up my bedroom) and I honestly thought, what the heck is going on with these girls and their eye makeup.

While I love the cat eye on the model on the cover, she too has a bit of the elongated defined eye shadow crease. Hopefully this is just done for pictures, because I simply cannot imagine looking at someone in person with a look like this.

Oh Thank the Lord I am not the only one who thought this looked weird!!!

All of the models in the new Sephora look like this….who decided this looked good????

I’m glad I’m not alone in this!

Dawn–so good to see you around!

At first glance, I didn’t see anything strange about this picture; but when I looked again, I couldn’t help but wonder if it had been badly edited before making it into the Sephora catalog. I agree that most of the faces in this one are a little out there - what kinds of jobs do people have that would be wearing this? I will admit, however, that the Stila kit does look nice - I’ll just stick to using the products in my traditional way, thanks.

    Shannon,
I am always here lurking and seeing the new stuff!!!!!! :)

My issue with this, is if I did in fact decide to wear my eye make-up like this, I know that here in Kansas City I would get a lot of odd looks!! It might work for hi-fashion, but not for middle America!

One looks like as if she’s perpetually squinting!

while I appreciate experimentation, especially with makeup (hey, a face is just like an artist’s canvass), I’m totally not into this look. Pobrecita, the extra shadows age her and make her look a little mad.

I think they’re trying to be edgy and at the same time create depth for the models’ eyes. However, the kit has all of Stila’s best sellers (kitten and brown sugar) so despite the picture, I think a lot of people would like this. I know I do!

This looks weird! I am not a fan at all. Hopefully we won’t see anyone sporting this look.

very dramatic. not sure it would translate well to real life though…especially not to work!

LOL, I didn’t even notice the extra crease until I read the post. It’s definitely one of those things that makes you do a double-take. As for Stila’s perfect face kit… I thought it was stellar! Love the brown sugar glaze, and kitten eyeshadow makes for a phenominal highlighter - looks like i’m going to have to break for another one since I lost my favorite highlighter, Lancome’s Vue.

i have done the look where the inner crease is deeper than the outer crease… it works on ppl that have wide set eyes & can look very flattering. but this,…. ew….. totally done wrong…. oh so very wrong. the artist created a fake, extra crease which just looks like she had a horrible nose-job. wierd
