Prescriptives Here To Stay 24-Hour Longwear Mascara

by Shannon on September 22nd, 2007

prescriptives here to stay 24-hour longwear mascaraI just received Prescriptives newest mascara “Here To Stay 24-Hour Longwear Mascara” (try saying that 10x fast) and I’m loving it.

What they promise:

* Lifts, defines lashes
* Long lasting color
* Smudge-resistant
* Ultra-comfortable
* Waterproof

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of waterproof mascara’s. Really…I’m not. They always make my lashes feel brittle and can be a pain to wash off. I’ve actually never associated “ultra-comfortable” with waterproof mascara and kind of scoffed at the thought of it when I saw Prescriptives product promise.

So imagine my surprise when I applied this mascara, only to have my lashes feel like I was wearing them natural. The mascara is light in feeling/texture, not clumpy and the color remained entact throughout the day. On a personal note, my grandfather is dying and this mascara has lasted me through many many tears this last week–so no running or smudging to speak of. And on nights when I have cried myself to sleep, no trace of it can be found on my pillow.

The mascara wand’s head is bendable and flexible, so it moves and bends with you as you apply the mascara. The brush is reflective of the plastic modable bristles many other brands have been coming out with this past year.

Definitely a good mascara. Have you tried it yourself?

    I have the same complaints with mascara’s that are waterproof and claim the comfort value. Makes me feel like a hooker when I go out on a Friday night with the clunky look. I’ll have to go by and check this out. Thanks for the recommendation!

    I haven’t tried this mascara, but I have tried other Prescriptives mascara and I was less than impressed. It was clumpy and had a weird smell. Maybe they redesigned this mascara, and it will be better than what I have tried in the past. I am currently using a drugstore brand, L’Oreal Telescopic, and it works fabulously, although it is not waterproof.

    Sharon–what a lovely compliment. :)

    Makeup Journal–the hooker thing made me laugh!

    Casie–I didn’t notice any fragrance to it at all. This is my 1st time trying a mascara by them, so I’m not sure if the formula changed.

    I was very impressed with this mascara. I too tend to prefer regular mascara over waterproof, but this one was fine and it looked great over a very, very long time.

    I’m not a fan of waterproof mascara. I have seen this and the plastic bristle comb reminds me of Cover Girl’s Volume Exact Mascara. My freind has tried it and says that it combs thelashes without clumping.

    I’m sorry to read about your grandfather. Positive energy towards your family.

    Prescriptives is a brand that keeps surprisinging me with their products. First there was the custom blend foundation and then the instant gratification scrub. Both excellent products and now with your review, I’m pretty sure this will be too!

    Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

    This mascara isn’t my fave in the Prescriptives family, but it did add some lovely definition and it’s staying power isn’t exaggerated, it really does stay put. I like False Lashes much better, it’s just a great mascara - buildable, and works for day or night.
    But it was awhile back when I tried 24-Hour longwear maybe I’m due to give it another go.

    I hate waterproofs too, but unfortunately ALL regular mascaras smudge on my lids. How was the removal of this? easier than waterproof?

    […] Stay 24-Hour Longwear Mascara lives up to it’s name and I’m not alone on this one, some other gals feel the same way. I haven’t been a fan of the type of wand this mascara features but once I […]
