NYC: 4 days and counting (and no makeup!)
I leave bright and early this Saturday morning to head to Manhattan for a fabulous weekend thanks to Pierce Mattie PR. It sounds so silly, but I absolutely hate the fact that I have to meet all of my co-workers and Pierce for the first time without any makeup on. You only get one shot to make a good first impression, how about trying it without your favorite lipgloss?
Although I know it is for my “before” pictures, meaning BAT–Before Alyn Topper–I still dread walking through those doors with my uneven skin coloring and possibly puffy looking eyes from not sleeping the night before due to excitement. Does that make me vain I wonder?
I just can’t help but think that as I make my way through the city over to the office and then over to see Alyn, that New Yorkers will be sizing me up. Nice clothes, nice shoes, hair is OK…but how could she leave the house without makeup? I’ll look like a girl who put in effort everywhere else except my face.
Do you always leave your house with makeup on? And when you’re not wearing it, do you feel more vulnerable?

Ooh - Have a fantastic fun time in NYC.
How about wearing your makeup for when you go in, and carry a few pre-moistened makeup remover wipes in your bag, and quickly remove it prior to your “before” picture. I hope you post the before & afters somewhere.
BTW - I AM JEALOUS!!!

I always wear make-up when I go out, though how much is related to what I have to do that day. If I’m just running errands, I only swipe foundation stick under my eyes and around my nose, apply a bronzer/blush (CARGO BeachBlushes are great!) and do tinted lip balm or gloss.
I don’t think it’s because I feel more vunerable (I actually like how I look without make-up), but I like make-up, it’s fun, and I’m a make-up artist, so I’m my own best advertisement, right?

hey shannon,
i don’t always wear makeup going out. I also carry a bare canvas to the makeup counter. I do feel better with makeup on, but confidence and some lipgloss goes a long way (ok.. and some mascara, lol)

Girl, you KNOW I would so make you up to look gorgeous…. both before and after if I could! Have a blast and we want DETAILS! For a pre ‘don’t look’, just put on some powder foundation, blush, and lipgloss (maybe mascara), and just swipe off with one of those take off cloths (that does’nt require water) the blush and lipgloss and powder before the photo. Easy on, easy off.

Kia and Toya–Thanks for the comments girls.
Teri, don’t be jealous–I am jealous of your fabulousness!
Elke, you know I am going to miss you not being there to share this with me. :(
I’m definitely taking my camera, as Pierce Mattie PR will be taking pictures and video as well. Maybe they’ll create a You Tube video that I can post for you all to see. Oye–then you will see how massive I am pregnant. I think this baby is going to be 20 pounds!

Hi, I just came accross this post and had to comment: I don’t do much make-up in general on a daily basis, but for years I have been made fun of by my friends for never failing to put on mascara before going ANYWHERE. I don’t leave the house without it. Even if I’m going to the beach, the gym, or to run to the gas station or supermarket really quick. I am a strawberry-blonde with eyelashes so light you can’t see them if I don’t use mascara and I feel incredibly uncomfortable without it on — like there is something wrong with my features. Just thought I’d share — some things you can’t live without!

I have tried and tried to skim down my make up so that i could eventually leave the house without make up on, but my estee lauder concealer still ends up on my face. the thing is, i have terrible acne scars and i just hate seeing it =(
can beauty researchers find the cure for scars already??

I never go to work or out with friend without it…just hanging around the family or running errands it’s optional.
