Makeup Palettes
I don’t know about you, but I am lazy.
As a mom, most times I don’t have time to sift through my huge collection of colors to decide which ones to mix and match and which lipgloss or lipstick would make the perfect combination. I just need to slap it on and run before someone is tugging at my leg (most times while applying mascara or eyeliner) and demanding my attention. Therefore, I am lazy because I want someone to choose my colors for me.
Thank goodness that the cosmetic industry understands people like me and have created palettes. There are many people out there who don’t like palettes, but let me tell you why I do.
For one, someone does the work of choosing creative color combinations for me. Oh this eyeshadow looks good with this gloss? Great! These shadows look great with this base? Fantastic! This really makes for more quality time in applying makeup, rather than it being a race to finish before being interrupted.
I also love that I can take my palette with me when heading out for the day (or night if I am lucky). No need to pack separate powders, lipsticks, etc. It’s all in one easy to carry case. Makes life easy, no?
One palette that caught my eye is by Pop Beauty. They make eye shadow palettes based on your eye color. I have hazel eyes, so Pop Beauty Eye Class for Green Eyes is perfect. I also love their Naturally Popette palette, which includes colors for eyes, lips and cheeks.

Hard Candy has an ultra cute makeup palette that opens to resemble a makeup train. It’s a tri-level makeup palette with eyeliners, blushes, shawdows, glosses, mini mascara and makeup applicators. (They can fit ALL of that into a palette?!)

And I’ve been looking at the palette by Benefit called The Weather Girl. My forecast? A positively radiant face.
What’s your take on palettes? Do you have a favorite one?

The popbeauty eye class is much nicer than the popette palette - I found the shadows in popette to be really chalky and sheer. But the eye class was much higher quality. Weird, huh?!

Oddly enough, I only have one palette right now - a Nars one (can’t remember the name), and I love it. All the colors are wearable, which is a feat for me, and it’s perfect for travel. In fact, I have it tucked away in my hospital overnight bag right now - don’t think I won’t be putting on a little color as soon as I get the chance after the baby’s born!
As for what’s caught my eye, I think I have serious lust for Sephora’s Summer Blockbuster Palette right now. I thought their Holiday one looked so cool, but sold out so quickly! I may have to cave on the Summer one - almost all the colors sound very wearable.

Amy–thanks for the heads up. I think that eye glass case is cute too.
Corinne–lol and I thought people might think I was crazy if I showed up to the hospital with a bag entirely dedicated to makeup. If my face is going to be plastered on the internet, I need to look good. ;) However, I have a feeling it will all just boil down to wearing some lipgloss.

I like palettes for their simplicity, but there’s always a color in there that never gets used, and the one that becomes a staple that runs out super quickly. I prefer do-it-yourself palettes.

I like palettes too. They give you enough product of all the fun colors you want! Would you really want a whole pot of bright blue? No, but one small disc full would sure be fun to play with.
Plus, they’re just friggin cute!

I think palettes are great, although at times they contain colors that are not so great. Overall though they do all the work for you by putting the right colors together. I love the Too Faced one, it’s so cute.

I’ve always thought Hard Candy never got the attention it deserved, I’m glad to see someone giving them some love! I am a huge fan of pallettes, and I used to not buy eyeshadows unless they WERE in a pallette (I somehow felt I was getting more for less) - but lately I’ve bought them for their prettyness or because they were limited edition items. I’ve planning on hitting up a MAC store for a DIY pallette for ages.

My favorite makeup palette to date is Tarte’s We Wish You Wealth palette. There are so many eye shadows, glosses and cheek stains in there. It’s definetly a bargain.

I’ve had the Pop palette for blue eyes for the longest time. Usually you don’t use all the colors in a palette and it’s a waste. I dunno if it’s made specifically for blue eyes that it’s so perfect, but I’ve used all of the colors several times. I hardly owned any other eye shadows when I had this.
