MAC Fafi: Create a Contest
MAC has just launched one of their new collections collaborated with French artist, Fafi.
I received just about the entire collection minus the Iridescent Pressed Powders, 3 Lipsticks and 1 Lipglass–about $500 worth of products and I’m in the mood to give it away–but I’m stumped on a good creative idea for a contest. So my dear MAC addicts, who is creative enough to come up with Makeup Minute’s Fafi giveaway?
While the contest itself can only be open to US residents (sorry!) the creative idea can come from anyone and you will be credited when the post goes up announcing the contest.
So please start posting your ideas in the comments and when I think we’ve hit the jackpot, I’ll choose the most creative and fun idea listed.

For the contest, i thought how about coming up with different looks on how to wear the colors (hippy chic, french, modern, classic)..and what to wear with the make-up look you are going for. I mean, I always like to get an idea of how people choose what make-up to wear depending on their outfit or mood.
I am a makeup artist/esthetician, so I know I could give pretty good detailed descriptions and techniques on what I would do and wear with the collection!! wink wink;)

Only US residents. awwwwwwwwwwwwww (*add more echoes of awww here*). You do know plenty of your readers reside outside of the US, right? I adore your website, by the way. A beauty blog is one of the things that totally wreck my budget. Luckily Fafi won’t hit Indonesia till end of April, so at least I have some time to save.

Pia–I know I’m sorry. :( It’s just too expensive for me to ship outside the US (a small package to Hong Kong cost me $30 once–this MAC package would be much bigger/heavier)–plus having to deal with customs. :( Sorry.

I live in the US, but I feel sorry for Pia - why not offer them the option of paying for the shipping??? That would solve a lot. I can think of a bunch of contest ideas - 1. celebrity look-a-likes and it doesn’t have to be a current celebrity it could be someone from decades ago - showing the versatility of the makeup; 2. collaborating with a photographer and stylist to come up with a “fafi ad” for Mac; 3. the obvious - a before fafi after fafi on someone unexpected, where the transformation is shocking; 4. an avante-garde fashion look along the lines of dior - trying to duplicate the outrageousness of the styling with props and some creativity; 5. creating a look for each season with appropriate backgrounds and props for hair, jewelry, clothing; 6. taking someone from natural to way out - again showing the versatility of your skills in applying and the flexibility of the makeup; 7. making someone look like the most glamorous version of themselves - high glam or rocker makeup; 8. or create a fafi doll from one of those mannequin heads - get someone to do the hair. Hopefully this will spark some more ideas. Good luck and I look forward to seeing the results.

I have to be honest, the FAFI dolls are kind of weird in their oversexed-ness. I’m glad that you chose a different contest instead of a lookalike competition!! This is much more meaningful.

your choice of contest was a very good one, this way i can read up on a fun site & learn from its history of past posts too! Plus, with my new daughter (3mos) i have been up with insomnia for awhile now (even when she sleeps I cant) so this is giving me something fun to do! ;-)

agree with julie, choosing a look a like contest would just be too obvious. I’m excited for the contest as well. I always read your blog, but never comment. This will definitely pull me from hiding. This is great.

How about a spin-off of your own BACK TO MAC program? The enrant who can send in the most empty Mac containers, compacts, etc. will win the prize!

Why don’t you have a contest of “WHO is a Fafi girl?” Contestants can send pictures of what they think a Fafi girl is/looks like……or have girls dress up like the cute Fafi girls/characters that are featured on the products. That would be fun !!
