Kanebo Cosmetics 38*C Silk Performance Mascara
I recently received Kanebo’s 38*C Silk Performance Mascara. It seems much like Imju Fiberwig’s mascara, yet it is definitely an improved upon formula.
Kanebo’s 38*C (the * stands for “degrees”) Silk Performance Mascara has fibres in the formula that attach to your lashes as you brush on the mascara. The formula appears less “gloopy” for lack of a better word, than Imju’s. What makes Kanebo’s Silk Performance Mascara so unique is the resin molecules in the mascara are fixed in place on your lashes and won’t disapate if it is touched with water below 38 degrees C. That means you can cry all you want and rub your eyes, and the mascara stays entact on your lashes. I decided to even give makeup remover a try to remove the mascara and it didn’t work. Imagine that!
I applied this mascara first by brushing the wand down on my lashes, then brushing them up and finally brushing them vertically to cover every lash. It separated my lashes, definitely noticeably lengthened them and gave my lashes the appearance of being “fuller” than they really are.
To remove, I simply wet my lashes with warm water (above 38 degrees C) and then using a cotton pad, I pinched my lashes between my index finger and thumb and gently pulled my lashes. As odd as that sounds, it worked and the mascara slid right off onto the cotton pad. If you rub your lashes, you’ll get the fibres under your eye and it is really messy, so “pulling” the mascara off works a lot better.

I have terrible problems with mascara smears and smudges. I used the Kiss Me version of this for awhile, but I didn’t like the brush. I tried the Kanebo, but the brush isn’t great and even with the hottest water, it was impossible to get off my lashes without pulling them out - I was so mad that I couldn’t return it b/c I threw out the packaging! Anyway -the best of these “tube” mascaras is Trish McAvoy’s “Lash Curling Mascara” - it is simply fantastic with a terrific brush - I love and it is one of the few items I have ever re-purchased repeatedly!

Nina, I didn’t have any issues with pulling my lashes out, only the mascara came off.
I haven’t tried Kiss Me’s mascara because there is something about “tubes” on my lashes that weirds me out. ;)
I also haven’t tried Trish’s mascara–does it really curl your lashes?

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love this mascara. I know a lot of makeup artists and celebrities are big fans too. But it seriously has saved me many of times from ruining my makeup. Everyone should try and become obsessed, like me!!!!
