Here’s the legal stuff and things I think you should know.
Makeup Minute is a b5media blog. In other words, I get paid to write this blog. Paid does not mean I only write this blog to make money, it means I love makeup and that getting paid to write about it is a very big perk.
As of today, 95% of the products I review are sent to me from various companies and PR firms. Please note that this does not bias my reviews in the least. I am always upfront with every company that approaches me to write a review, telling them that I will only give my honest opinion 100% of the time. To date, most are very accepting of that. I do not seek them out, as well, they approach me.
As of today 5% of the products I review are products I have bought myself. This is simply because all of my money is invested in my 4 small children.
I have no stock in any of the brands I write about.
I do have an ongoing relationship with one PR firm, and that is Pierce Mattie Public Relations. My relationship is that of Chief Blogger for their Main, Beauty, Fashion, Fitness & Jewelry blogs, as well as their Publicist. They too are very understanding that I will only write an honest review of their client’s products and they always encourage me to be honest regardless of my relationship with them.
Please note that this is my personal blog and does not at all reflect the opinions of Pierce Mattie Public Relations or b5media and should not be assumed as such.
The Lingo: Whenever you see the words, “I received,” in a post, it means it was a product sent to me for free.
98% of the time I use affiliate links in my posts. Again, in no way does it taint how I feel about a product when I review it, it simply means it is a perk that I get a commission based on sales through my link for such products. Affiliate links are places such as Amazon, Beauty.com, Drugstore.com and so on.
Do I think its unethical for me to receive products for free? No. It is marketing expanding itself into the blogosphere and using it as a new medium.
Should you be a company or PR firm looking to send me products, please note my post regarding etiquette and rules of engagement. Also–send me pitches that are ONLY makeup related.
Have questions? Please let me know.
