Bourjois Metallic Eyeliner

by Shannon on September 18th, 2006

I hadn’t used eyeliner pencil in a good long while when my good friend Elke gave me many wonderful gifts for my birthday, which included Bourjois’ Metallic Eyeliner. I would say it sat in the bag for about a week because I thought that this pencil would probably be like others I have used in the past; splintery and difficult to work with.

I was completely wrong.

The color Elke gave me was Effet noir miroir, which is a nice kohl black. Actually I find that it also has pigments of purple in it, which is one reason I really like this eyeliner. It’s the way that it catches in the light that at different points you see black and in others you see a purple hue. I have hazel eyes and quite honestly, my eyes are rockin when I wear this eyeliner. The above color card does not do this color justice.

I found this pencil very easy to work with. It is a creamy pencil that contains jojoba oil and Vitamin E, so it glides on smoothly and makes for that perfect line. It’s not too thick or too thin, and I’ve been able to gently line my eyelids just at my lash line with great precision. I’m really quite impressed.

This eyeliner is also waterproof, which I can assure you that it is, being that pregnant women cry at the drop of a hat. That happens often lately (stupid commercials) and I can attest to my eyeliner staying intact without smudging or running. Perfect!

at first i wasn’t really excited about this post because it was about eyeliner and i have the same gripes about eyeliner as you did. but after hearing you rave about it, i’m gonna go check it out! i used to put on black AND purple liquid eyeliner, but this one sounds like it’ll do the trick in one swipe!

*the one drawback about this contest…the more posts i read, the more stuff i will wanna buy! >_<

I completely agree thu. this liner sounds very nice. I have dark brown eyes so i’m not sure if it’ll do anything for me, but it definitely sounds like a nice product.

I usually don’t wear eyeliner because I have a severe case of dark circles under my eyes and eyeliner only makes it look more pronounced. Maybe a metallic eyeliner wouldn’t make them look that bad.

These are cute, I like them for club nights. For day they’re just a little too much for my tastes. They remind me a little of the pencils Vicotoria’s Secret Beauty sells.

How on earth do you sharpen the waterproof eyeliners? I ordered thru QVC the platinum 3 pcs. set and I cannot figure out how to sharpen the point. No sharpener worked, there’s nothing to peel back and 1/2 my black pencil is already gone. Please advise

Marlena I do find it slightly tough to sharpen, but still manage to get it done. Possibly do you have a self sharpening one that you twist from the bottom?

I have all the QVC platnuim editions of these pencils and all of the shades of these Bourjois Metallic Waterproof pencils and the reason they sharpen wierd sometimes i’ve noticed is because the wood around the actual pencil isn’t wood. its a plasticky-wood thing. i like it better than wood. its true it dosent work with my old trusty pencil sharpeners… BUT!!!!!! the Bourjois brush set comes with a dual sized pencil sharpener… and i kid you not it sharpens these (and all pencils) amazilgly. seriously like 2 turns of the pencil and its perfect again. i’ll never use another sharpener again (ps- the brush set comes with 5 brushes too and is only like $45ish )

I love the metallic eyeliner pencils I got from QVC. I need a pencil sharpener for them. Can I purchase one from you or where do I get one?

    Thanks.

Barbara, I don’t sell anything. ;) I’m sure your local Sephora, drugstore or department store would have a sharpener in their beauty section.

    I love this eyeliner :D
I have it in green and it is so smooth to put on as you said and it’s really neat. It’s also very waterproof and doesn’t smudge in the lovely british rain
And i first found this post after a google search wondering how to sharpen it because it didn’t look sharpenable, so after reading some of this, i sharpened it with a normal metal pencil sharpener and it sharpened perfectly and smoothly and didnt smudge or bleed or anything. sharpened better than any of my other wooden pencils
over all i am really glad i bought this, outshines my other pencils by far ;D
