A Contest That Is Totally Off Topic
I have makeup sitting here just waiting for me to write it’s review…yet today I feel a little lazy (and fat as I eat this double chocolate swiss miss cake roll–but it’s for the baby!)
So I’d like to have a little contest regarding my baby. Yes, I know. I am totally baby-focused at the moment because when you have a kid that kicks like David Beckham 24/7, there really is nothing else you can do but be reminded that he is in there.
So here’s the scoop:
Guess the weight, length and date he will arrive. Whoever is the closest to his actual birth stats will win a prize. You have to make your guess count by posting it in the comments so that everyone knows I wasn’t biased and randomly picking someone.
To help you out, here are the stats:
At an ultrasound last week, it was determined that he currently weighs 6.8lbs. Babies gain between 1/2 to 1 pound a week in their final weeks before birth. His estimated due date is May 10th.
History:
1 son born 8.5lbs, 22 inches and 2 weeks late.
1 son born 8.5lbs, 21 inches and 5 days early.
1 son born 8.8lbs, 19 inches and 5 days early.
OK, that’s all the help you get in guessing correctly. Be sure to get in your vote/guess and make it count! Once he born, everything will be posted (with a picture of how lovely he is) and the winner announced.
So…what is your guess?
* Picture is of me holding Duncan (baby #3) right after he was born.

I would like a picture of you now, so I can properly judge the due date. ;) I bet you look precious - and pass me one of those swiss cake rolls - YUM!

A picture of me now. Surely you jest. lol. Actually I thought about that, but I am too embarassed with the enormity of my belly. It’s one thing when Duncan yells that my belly is “sooooo big!” but my mother even said, “Wow, you really are pretty big.” I’ll start NutriSystem now please.

Teri–I would love if he were born on the 3rd, but the labor would have to start before 4am because my husband leaves for work then..and he works 2 hours away. I’m so nervous that I will be delivering this baby by myself!
Dexie–I am honestly hoping for the 5th too. My husband will be home, neighbors will be around to rush over to watch the kids, and my mom won’t be working so she can come up and stay with my boys.
Carleen and Tiffany–My midwife seems to think he will be born on the 9th too.

I’m going to go with May 4, 8.6lbs, 20 inches. And I would like one of those swiss cake rolls, too, please! I hope this “hurry up and wait” period isn’t too distracting for you.

Well this week is not swiss cake rolls but a combination of rice pudding with dark chocolate chips mixed in, followed by fresh strawberries dipped in sugar. lol.

[…] just sayin. I know something YOU don’t know. I certainly don’t want to spoil the contest and it’s killing me not to share the news with some of my friends who have ventured a guess […]

my guess….I think you left us clues in your post today, “last” “few things”….
I am guessing the 11th, 7.5 and 20 inches….a peanut compared to the other 3!

Hey Samara! :)
Dawn–you crack me up. No real “hints” per say, but I’m sure that other women who have gone through pregnancy may know what I am eluding to with those chosen words. I’d be happy with 7.5–but the 11th–omg I would start jumping off the curbs! ;)

Well I am nobody to gage by….my son was 10 days early (38 weeks) 6.10 and 19 inches long. And he almost came at 28 weeks! And at 34 weeks they told me he was big and would be close to 7.5! So I was happy after my 70 min labor (literally from 1st contraction to finish) with no epidural!
So I cannot be used as a comparison! But I so wish you nothing but the best!!!!
And just a note, I so enjoy your posts and site. I look forward to it everyday!

Dawn that made my day! :) And 70 minutes?? I envy you! The longest labor I have had has been 4 hours. I’m not sure I would want 70 minutes simply because I am 40 min. from the hospital and God knows I don’t want to hit traffic and deliver on the side of the road!

Umm…May 6th, 21″, 8.2 lbs. Also, I was thinking, “5:20 pm” but that’s getting a little crazy I think!
I just discovered your site recently and it’s one of the best beauty blogs I’ve read. Good stuff not found elsewhere.
Thanks and good luck!

Sorry for those who said May 3rd–although I was having some major back labor, no baby.
Carrie–yes 5:20 would be getting crazy! lol. But I think I would laugh more if you were right! Thank you for your compliment about my blog.

May 7th, 8.7 lbs, 20 inches
Is it too late to vote??
Shannon
May 5, 2007 at 11:20 am
Nope, it’s not too late because he is still not here. ;) So anyone who said the 4th–I think only one did–sorry no cigar.

For those who said the 5th—sorry. For some reason this baby just doesn’t want to come out.
