Global Goddess Look: Emmanuelle Chriqui

emmanuelle ChriquiShalini Vadhera, celebrity makeup artist and author of Passport to Beauty, recently created a stunning beauty look for actress Emmanuelle Chriqui (HBO’s “Entourage”) before she walked the red carpet at a Beverly Hills event.

Here’s how to duplicate Emmanuelle’s chic, but natural sexy look:

Shalini prepped and brightened Emmanuelle’s skin with Global Goddess Beauty Upgrade Complexion Face Primer and then applied Complexion Perfection Foundation to give her skin a flawless finish.

South Pacific Shimmer Bronzer served a dual purpose as an eyeshadow base and to warm up her cheeks. It’s one of Emmanuelle’s personal faves!

The Sizzling Serengeti Tribal Quad Eyeshadows in Mombasa helped to make her eyes pop. A layer of black and shimmery brown Cairo Eyes Liquid Liner and Exotic Eyes Blackest Mascara set the look.

Lastly, Shalini applied Sandstorm Lip Veil to gloss up Emmanuelle’s lips and Floating Diamonds Face & Body Shimmer for an all-over glow.

Sonia Kashuk Spring 2008

Makeup For All–no wonder Sonia Kashuk’s line is found at Target. She brings gorgeous colors and tools out in her Spring 2008 collection at completely affordable prices.

Sonia kashuk eyeshadow

Shimmery neutral colors can be found in her eye shadow duo “Tongue in Cheek.” A sand color for the brow bone and lid and a milk chocolate color for the crease.

Her ergonomic Blusher Brush has synthetic hairs that are super soft. While I thought this brush was a little big, I liked how the handle curved to the shape of my hand.

I also used her Beautifying Blush in Melon (34)–and the color truly resembles the fleshy color of a watermelon. Sonia Kashuk’s Sheer Lip Glossing with No-Feather Pencil kicks ass. The top portion of the tube contains a lip pencil that is a pale pink color. When you apply it–it is translucent. Apply the Sheer Lip Glossing with its brush applicator and you have gorgeous shimmery, no-feather lips. “Sexy” is a plum color that I am wearing and it is long lasting.

Voila! The colors on me. I couldn’t find most of the products I received on Target’s website, but I believe they are all available in store. There are so many more goodies here for me to try out and those reviews will be posted in the days to come.

Have you seen her spring collection at Target? What did you think?

Taaz: A New Look in Beauty

Shannon-Nelson headshot copy

Shannon after Taaz

So you love to play with makeup as much as I do? Sometimes you wish you could try certain colors just to see how they would look on you but don’t want to spend the cash just to “play?” Taaz is what you have been dreaming of ladies.

You can upload a picture of yourself with no makeup and your hair pulled back (because there are hairstyles to play with too!) You shouldn’t really have your head tilted, but I liked this picture of me and was just looking to play with the makeup portion of Taaz.

Once you’ve uploaded your picture you then are guided through measuring out face points with your eyes, pupils, lips and teeth. This helps guide the program to apply the colors in the correct location–cause God knows you don’t want to have lipstick show up on your teeth. When applying any of the makeup, you are given the chance to adjust the location. Since I chose a picture with my head tilted, I had to adjust the blush and eye shadow slightly on my right side to make it appear proportional to my left.

The brands you get to choose from range from drugstore to prestige brands. So for me Chanel, Maybelline, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown and Origins were the brands I chose to try out.

This was really a lot of fun and so cool when you use the “compare” feature and can see the difference side by side. This makeup look can be considered “Rock of Love” simply because it reminds me of the colors I used to wear back when Brett Michaels wasn’t so old. In this small shot, it doesn’t look as fabulous as it does in full size.

One word of advice–Taaz is addictive! So don’t blame me when you slack off at work because you are having a good time giving yourself a makeover!

Caption Contest Winner

Since I like to do things with the most scientific accuracy, I put everyone’s names on a piece of paper who gave a caption in the Caption Contest and put it in a basket. I then allowed Brody to pull a name and Duncan to show the winner. Don’t question the scientificness of this–it’s nobel prize winning!

Picking a winner–Brody picked two, so Duncan picked the winning caption. You can see the intensity and seriousness of the situation.

Duncan proudly reveals that the winner is Michelle Simons.
